Two years into having created the Wylder platform, we decided to bring our online business into the physical world of in-person experiences. We wanted to offer something truly meaningful to our shared community, so together with our in-house team of Jainee Dial (CCO), Lindsey Davis (CEO), Gina Peters (Brand Partnerships Director), and Emily Speicher (Social Media & Marketing Manager), we co-crafted an intimate retreat with the Salmon Sisters in Homer, Alaska.
The next year, we curated an incredible lineup of speakers, chefs, artists, and entrepreneurs to take part in our 2nd annual Wylder Field Trip, Creative WYLD, in Southern Idaho. These events were years in the making and represent the passion and grit of our capable and industrious all-female team.

Maple Grove Hot Springs | September, 2019
It takes persistence and endurance to carve your own path. Each of our guides and guest speakers brought their own story of perseverance and a lived experience of defining success on their own terms. Participants were able to hone their brand-building skills, write and create from a place of integrity, and connect back to their creative spirit.
Each day was filled with workshops at the main yurt themed around risk, mindfulness, and persistence. With titles like “Vocation as Activism”, “Stand Up to Stand Out”, and “Ready to Engage”, each person was invited to hone their own creative mission and explore new pathways in their careers, projects, and businesses.
Maple Grove was the perfect setting for balancing important work with adventure, play, and true rest. Every meal was communal and we gathered on the patio at the River House for delicious food, drinks, and lively conversations. There were also guided hikes, yoga, paddleboarding, and an early morning meditation to complement the daily itinerary of workshops. At the end of each day, we relaxed in the emerald hot spring pools under a blanket of stars.
We’re so thankful for all of the wild, wonderful humans that took part in this transformative experience. Each and every person had a shared desire to create meaningful work in the world, and we can't wait to see how their ideas take shape.

FIELD TRIP
Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge | September, 2018
Emma Laukitis and Claire Neaton are on a mission to revitalize the dialogue around the importance of salmon. The Salmon Sisters stand as an example of female leadership in the outdoor industry.
We knew that in order to truly understand this incredible ecosystem, we’d need to immerse ourselves into the landscape and learn directly from its diverse array of inhabitants.
Each day was curated for both adventure and learning. We hiked to Grewingk glacier, went fishing for Salmon from a private charter, practiced yoga in the morning, and went tide pooling around our basecamp, the Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge.
Our daily workshops were crafted to educate participants about the traditions and people of Homer and their expertise in cooking and harvesting wild foods. Having never been to Alaska, we were astonished at both the epic landscape, and the generosity and grit of its residents.
In our final workshop, we learned about the encroaching threat that the Pebble Mine and extractive development pose to this fragile ecosystem, and each person left with a potent understanding of the fact that nearly every form of life in this region revolves around the salmon runs.
